You are invited to: The Summit Cape Town South Africa
The
Summit, PO Box 74 Newlands 7725. |
Statistically, 75% of young people with a Christian background who enrol at university stop going to church. For any army to lose 3/4 of its forces is catastrophic. (See: Universities - Hijacking our Youth?)
From 6 - 14 January 2005 the Summit Youth Leadership and Worldview Training Course will be practically preparing students to deal with the issues, temptations and pressures of university. The Summit equips students with the facts and the skills they need to deal with humanism and evolutionism. The Summit applies the Biblical Worldview to all areas of life.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may approve what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2
The Summit is a crash-course to enable students to analyse competing worldviews, to understand and articulate the Christian worldview, to enable them to answer the toughest questions and to equip them with the skills and the confidence they need to respond to every challenge to their Christian faith.
Christianity is not for the weak minded. It is not enough to simply believe. You have to know what you believe and why you believe. And you need to be able to defend it. The Summit will enable you to understand and respond in a Biblical way to everything from Relativism to Dualism, from Hollywood to Humanism, from Marxism to Islam. The Summit can change your life.
Participants of previous Summits have written these responses:
An amazing
experience which strengthened my faith
;
It has renewed my enthusiasm for Jesus
;
Very different to any other kind of Christian camp;
A great time of spiritual revival;
The Summit gave me solid foundations for defending and living my faith;
The best experience in my life so far
;
Well organised, stimulating, fun, wonderful!
At the Summit you will encounter real Christians seeking to live with integrity and deal honestly and intelligently with life's challenges. At the Summit you will have the opportunity for lots of mind bending, life altering, learning and soul searching. There will also be lots of fun, fellowship, hiking, volleyball and water sports and there will be the opportunity to put feet to your faith with outreaches within the area.
The Summit not only leads to new lifelong friendships, but greatly strengthens the family. Many parents have commented positively on the changes they have seen in their children. As one father said: I sent you a boy, and you sent me back a young man!
The Summit is held in a beautiful conference centre situated on the slopes of a mountain, amidst a forest and overlooking the sea. Accommodation is in comfortable chalets. All the meals are professionally catered. Most lectures are accompanied by PowerPoint and manuals and textbooks are provided as part of the course.
The Summit is great value for time and money. Some have commented that it was the best investment they have ever made. Those attending the Summit will find that it is packed full with cutting edge research, films, presentations and valuable information. It actually makes it enjoyable for students to serve the Lord and to stand up and speak up for the Christian worldview. The Summit equips students to have a positive influence on society.

See to it that no-one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. Colossians 2:8
Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2
"The basic
problem of the Christians
is that they have seen things in bits and pieces
instead of totals. They have very gradually become disturbed over permissiveness,
pornography, the public school, the breakdown of the family, and finally abortion
They
have failed to see that all of this has come about due to a shift in a world
viewthat is, through a fundamental change in the overall way people think
and view the world and life as a whole." Francis Schaeffer,
A Christian Manifesto, pg. 19
Since today's young people will be tomorrow's leaders, it behoves us to shape the next generation into responsible, moral citizens who will lead our world aright. Summit Ministries is an important resource that can accomplish this vital task. Dr. Ollie Gibbs, Vice President Association of Christian Schools International.
Summit Ministries focuses on life changing ideas. Everyone has a worldview, a way of interpreting everything that happens in the world. The Bible has an explanation for the universe, but so do Secular Humanism, Evolutionism and the New Age Movement. Each of these worldviews is founded on ideas. Ideas have far reaching consequences.
We see much of the world becoming worse because the Church is not practically involved. We need to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We need to show the world that the Christian Faith makes a positive difference in every area of life.
It is time to reclaim our Christian heritage and to demonstrate to the world that the Bible has the best answers to society's most pressing problems.
To do this, we need to understand the times in which we live and learn to effectively defend and clearly communicate the Gospel to a needy world.
My own son was one of those who came face to face with a Biblical worldview at the Summit. It was by far one of the most significant conferences he has ever attended. The impact will affect Sean the rest of his life. Josh McDowell
"Nothing short of great Civil War of Values rages today throughout ... Two sides with vastly differing and incompatible world-views are locked in a bitter conflict that permeates every level of society. the struggle now is for the hearts and minds of the people. It is a war over ideas. And someday soon, I believe, a winner will emerge and the loser will fade from memory. For now, the outcome is very much in doubt." Dr. James Dobson, Children at Risk, pgs. 19-20
