A Message from the Chairman of the Board of Frontline Fellowship

Dear Friends

Frontline Fellowship's husband-wife team, Mike and Reneé, have begun the second month of their 7 month, 11 country Africa Overland Mission.

Mike remembers when they left South Africa last month and arrived at the frontier with 1.8 tonnes of Bibles, Discipleship books, Gospel literature and audio/visual Leadership training materials; the Mozambique border guards looked and said, "This is too much!" and "This is a big problem" and "This is very bad." Those were the only English words they knew so they continued talking in Portuguese. Mike explained that this was "for free distribution" and that there was "no commercial value." They ignored him.

Time passed and the stand-off seemed to be going nowhere. Mike said, "Ok, I am going now?" It was a question, but he posed it as a statement. He climbed into the truck and started the engine, anticipating that someone would shout "Halt!" but no-one did. He edged the vehicle forward slowly with his foot hovered above the brake pedal. At the gate an official inspected their papers and passports, was satisfied, and raised the boom.

They were through! Mike's initiative at the border was approved by intervention from a Higher Authority. Next, he would need ingenuity in the bush.

The asphalt road ended at the border. In Mozambique the track was soft sand and dunes. Mike stopped to deflate the tires and continued in four-wheel-drive. The powdery sand threatened to swallow their heavily laden vehicle. He had to focus on keeping the momentum moving forward, yet being careful not to go over the crest of the dunes too fast and lose control on the downhill side. Your prayers are needed to keep them moving.

Our Director, Dr. Peter Hammond arrived back in Cape Town this morning from a 9-day, high intensity mission to Europe sponsored by Christians for Truth. He preached in Belgium, Holland and Switzerland. The first day he spoke in the Arabic Evangelical Church in Vilvoorde, Belgium, which meets in the 16th century building where Reformer, William Tyndale (dubbed "God's Outlaw" for translating the Bible into English), was arrested. Christian television and other media interviewed Peter outside the European Union headquarters in Brussels.

In preparation for the Coronation of the new king, William Alexander, in the Netherlands, Peter was interviewed at the historic monument in The Hague celebrating Holland's liberation from French occupation in 1813. The media wanted Hammond's South African perspective on Dutch Christian heritage in the Cape. He recalled the prayer of the first Dutch Governor in Table Bay, "This new outpost [will] be for the spreading of the light of the Reformed Faith throughout the Dark Continent."

From Holland, a significant part of which is below sea level, Peter moved on as a guest speaker at the CFT Conference amidst the 3-mile high Alps in Switzerland. It was a 'mountain-top' experience. The Conference theme: "War of Worldviews - Christian and secular." One of Peter's presentations: "Resisting Babylon and the Beast."

Peter begins a USA itinerary in May. He will be in the Phoenix area May 12-16. Click here for a detailed list of dates, time and place. You are cordially invited.

Thank you again for your faithful prayers that enable us to keep on keeping on.

Yours in His grip

Dear Peter,

Frontline Fellowship's husband-wife team, Mike and Reneé, have begun the second month of their 7-month, 12-nation Africa overland mission.

Mike remembers when they left South Africa last month and arrived at the frontier with 1.8 tons of Bibles, Discipleship books, Gospel literature and audio/visual Leadership training materials; the Mozambique border guards looked and said, "This is too much!" and "This is a big problem" and "This is very bad."
