HOW WOULD YOU RESPOND TO SOMEONE TEARING UP AND BURNING A BIBLE IN FRONT OF YOU THAT YOU HAD GIVEN HIM FOR FREE?

In our ministry we would never hand out Bibles for Evangelism. The Bible is precious and people need to understand its value and be committed to studying and obeying it before they are entrusted with a copy. Even then we would not carelessly distribute Bibles to just anyone who asked.

World Missionary Press publishers 50-page Gospel booklets filled with Scripture in over 250 languages. We distribute hundreds-of-thousands of these WMP Gospel booklets freely. There is sufficient in these little pocket-sized Gospel booklets for a person to come under conviction of sin and develop a spiritual hunger.

We have designed 58 different tracts of our own at Livingstone House and have distributed many hundreds-of-thousands of copies of those at traffic lights, railway stations, shopping malls, market places, taxi ranks, etc.

On occasion we have offered free New Testaments at our literature displays/outreaches in shopping malls, to those who would like to complete our Spiritual Wellbeing Survey.

In the field, we entrust Bibles into the hands of pastors, teachers, chaplains and Evangelists for them to distribute carefully, prayerfully and strategically to the most dedicated Christians in their church or group.

If a person wants a Bible, or New Testament, or other book, from us, we normally require them to prove their dedication by memorising The Apostles Creed, The Ten Commandments, or some other passage of Scripture.

So, to come back to your question. If you are offering Bibles during an outreach and somebody comes up to your table and picks up a Bible and proceeds to try to burn it in front of you, I would seek to stop them and save the Bible.

It should be obvious that this is your property and you are only making it available conditionally to people who respect, and are committed to studying, the Bible. Someone who wants to violate that condition and take a Bible for the purpose of destroying it, is guilty of theft/malicious damage to property and blasphemy too.

To make it clearer, you could produce a clear sign stating this: If you are interested in discovering the Truth for yourself and would like to study the Word of God, we are willing to provide you with a free copy of the Holy Bible.

May God grant you much wisdom and discernment.

Yours for the fulfilment of the Great Commission
