Thank you for Praying for Christopher Hammond - 18 Dec 2009 PDF Print E-mail

 Dear Friend

Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Thank you very much for your kind and encouraging communication and for your prayers.

For the first time we have had some indication of a consistent drop in Christopher’s createnine and urea levels. They are still unacceptably high. However, over the last four days we have seen a slow, but steady drop in his urea and createnine levels. They had risen by the 12 th December up to 760, but now the levels are coming down to mid 600.

The doctors are telling us that Christopher won’t be able to be released before Christmas, but we don’t want to accept that. We are continuing to pray that the Lord may grant that his new kidney will fully cleanse his system. The result of the kidney biopsy was good, indicating that the new kidney has not been rejected, but is a good match. Yesterday they were considering taking him in for a third operation under anaesthetic! By God’s grace a scan and ultrasound, later showed that to be unnecessary.

Lenora has been in great pain and complaining of nausea and migraines. She is being checked out at the hospital today.

On Wednesday it was two weeks since the transplant operation. Yesterday I took my sister, Vanessa, to the airport to fly back to her family in the Transvaal, after a two and a half week stay, Vanessa has been an invaluable help with Christopher, and assisting me in juggle Daniela and Calvin’s extra-mural and home schooling activities. On Monday night Andrea returned home for Christmas. Andrea has a special relationship with Christopher and has been able to encourage him to eat and drink more. It is great to have another driver in the family, back in Cape Town.

Christopher is able to take showers and clean himself. He is still on one drip and has his own room in isolation in a general ward.

He is fully recovered from the pneumonia, and his partially collapsed lung has fully recovered. We recognise that we are in spiritual warfare here. Thank you so very much for standing with us and continuing to lift up Christopher to the throne of Grace.

May the Lord continue to be your joy and strength.

Yours in Christ’s service.
