WHERE DOES THE BIBLE STATE THAT JESUS WENT TO HELL? PDF Print E-mail

Thank you for your letter and question.

The Apostles Creed states: “I believe in God the Father Almighty… and in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, He died and was buried. He descended into Hell. The third day He rose again from the dead…”

The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Christ died for us. The just in the place of the unjust (1 Peter 3:18).

“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.” Galatians 3:13

“He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins…” 1 John 2:2

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the spirit, by whom He also went and preached to the spirits in prison, who were formerly disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the Ark was being prepared…” 1 Peter 3:18-22

“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” Colossians 2:15

Jesus Christ is building His Church and the gates of hell cannot prevail against it (Matthew 16:18).

Hell is real and Christ has redeemed us from it by suffering its torments, defeating death, hell, satan and the grave. Rising triumphant and freeing many captives, bring them in a victory procession with Him.

May the Lord continue to bless, guide and strengthen you.

Yours for the fulfilment of the Great Commission
