Dear Friends
ANSWERED PRAYERS AND GREAT OPPORTUNITIES
On looking back at 2005 we at Frontline Fellowship can only marvel at the
grace of God.
Our year started with the Summit youth leadership training camp we run every
January. The course prepares our youth to apply the Lordship of Jesus
Christ to all areas of life and also to defend their faith at their local
educational institution.
Within a day of the Summit ending I attended an ex-combatants meeting in
Khayelitsha, near Cape Town. Ex-terrorists were upset by the lack of
concern by our government officials for those who put their lives on the
line during the 'Struggle'. I was given an opportunity to give a short
testimony regarding the St James Massacre, when the colleagues of those
present attacked our church in 1993 and murdered 11 congregants and injured
47 in the name of the 'Struggle'.
I organised for some young girls from a church we work with in Khayelitsha
to attend a youth camp at a local mission farm near Cape Town. The
missionaries at the KwaSizabantu Mission had a profound influence on the
youth, calling them to purity and holy living for the sake of the Gospel.
My first visit to Lubumbashi in the Congo was extraordinary as I spoke at
the Sunday Morning Worship Service of the Come and See Church with 3000
people in attendance. This visit set the vision for the training of 450
Christian leaders from all over the Congo which I took part in during May
this year. The publishing of our Director, Peter Hammond's book, 'Biblical
Principles for Africa' in a French translation was a great blessing to them.
Frontline is preparing a second printing now for distribution in 2006.
Bishop Lamba Lamba has once again called for further training of leaders in
the light of the Congo expecting to have their first democratic elections in
decades during 2006. Lord willing we will help in this regard in the new
year.
Our mid-year Biblical Worldview Summit and Great Commission Course had a
great impact on the attendees from all over the world. We train those in the
mission field and those interested in the field how to cope with mission
life. Practical training, physical training and spiritual training with
outreaches on the street are all part of the package.
Speaking at two Women of Destiny meetings in different cities was a great
experience. This organisation does phenomenal work in keeping women in
touch with their servanthood in the socio-political arena.
After speaking about the effects of firearm control in Africa at one meeting
the next speaker - a female university professor - mentioned how distressed
she was that Charl had called the women to arms, which is not what I did,
but it sounded good.
I was shocked to find at a book launch of Letlapa Mphahlele, the commander
of the troops that attacked our church, that this same university professor
was chairing the book launch. Letlapa mentioned during the question time
that there will be another Second Revolution happening in South Africa. Our
professor friend did not flinch an eye-lid to this remark. Liberals really
have to apply mental gymnastics to accommodate their self contradictory
worldview.
I thoroughly enjoyed my US speaking tour, meeting with wonderful family in
Christ. I look forward to my next visit to the US that will, Lord willing,
be happening from 5-15 May 2006.
The Lord has blessed us with a new baby still comfortably growing in Mommy's
womb. Sonja is doing well though her blood pressure is a bit low causing
spells of dizziness. Roberta (8), Jason (4) and John-Marc (3) are very
excited about the birth of our baby. Roberta completes grade 2 this year
and Jason starts grade 0 in the new year. John-Marc will be attending a
group for young children 3 mornings a week at the home of a friend from our
local church.
The Lord has been really gracious in giving my father his life back. He
suffered from Cancer and almost died in a private hospital due to
dehydration; such is Africa. He is now clear of the Cancer. Peter's wife,
Lenora, has been blessed with a great recovery after being hospitalised for
6 weeks this year. Thank you for praying for them.
Peter's life threatening messages from local Muslims is still an issue for
which we covet your prayers. The accused in this case has pleaded not
guilty and the trial was remanded to 21 December.
Thank you very much for your support in our work. We cannot do this without
partners like you.
God bless
Charl van Wyk

mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the Gospel
