Dear Friends

Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

On our latest Salt and Light radio programme, we dealt with the issue of South Africa's land challenges. I interviewed Dr. Philip du Toit the author of the best selling book "The Great South African Land Scandal". On the programme Dr. Peter Hammond explained the catastrophic land problems in Zimbabwe.

We had a great response from listeners who were shocked at the chaos in our country regarding this issue. Interestingly enough, the government has spent R3 billion (US$ 480 million) on buying farms and handing them over to black people, for free, for them to run. Over 100 farms have been totally destroyed by people who do not know what they are doing. The government is also losing R100 million per year just on taxes, that they would have received from those farms as they were running before they were handed over. Even more interesting is the fact that all South Africa's successful Black commercial farmers are those who did not receive government handouts.

Our Great Commission Camp and Course, which ran from the 25th of June to 12th of July, was very successful. My colleagues, Lawren, Tim and Peter did an extremely good job of training participants from as far afield as New Zealand, Zambia and California in cross-cultural evangelism.

In dealing with the new Firearms Control Act, we organised a pro self-defence demonstration outside our House of Parliament the day before implementation i.e. 30 June 2004. I had around 12 media interviews,
including a radio station in the Netherlands and also a Belgian newspaper regarding this issue.

It is also interesting that an official of the Department of Safety and Security phoned our offices, and demanded the last two editions of our Firearm News - he wanted it couriered to him by the very next day. It is very difficult to understand why these socialists will be wanting to read our newsletter, but one can understand their frustration, due to them being totally incompetent at organising and implementing the new law. We criticise this in our magazine and it would be interesting to see what developments come out of them reading it. I have also posted this man a copy of my book "Shooting Back - The Right and Duty of Self-Defence" so that, as I explained to him "You can see how much the public is against the new Firearms Control Act".

One member of a firearms forum that I am part of, commented to me on the forum, "Pretty hard to imagine the political commissars despising anyone more than yourself.."

My colleague, Sipho, organised a meeting with a black taxi association CODETTA. I explained to them the draconian measures in the new Firearms Control Act, which would make it very difficult for their taxi drivers to defend themselves with licensed firearms in South Africa. They are not happy with the new law at all and we put them in touch with the Black Gun Owners Association, who intends marching 10 000 people to our Central Firearms Register in protest to the new law. The Chairman of the Black Gun Owners Association told me that they are having a 100% rejection rate on applications for gun licenses by their people. They are encouraging their members not to reapply for firearm licenses, which they already own even
though the law specifies that they must.

Our latest Christian Action magazine is now available and we are very excited about the launch of the new Discipleship Handbook, written by our Director, Dr Peter Hammond. I would like to highly recommend this book to you and also your pastors and home cell leaders. It can be ordered from our offices in Cape Town or from In Touch Mission International in Tempe, Arizona Tel: 1-888-918 4100.

The family is doing very well. Just a few days ago Sonja was busy getting the chickens back into their coop after the gate was found open. As Sonja was rounding them up, Jason (3) was following her and watching what she was doing. When she got the last chicken into the coop, she said a quick prayer. "Thank you Lord for helping me get these chickens back into the coop". She then heard a voice behind her saying "I am not (the) Lord, I am Superman."

Thank you very much for your support in the work we are doing and we would love to hear from you and what the Lord is doing in your life.

Please pray for our outreaches in shopping centres in and around Cape Town on National Women's Day. Our Director will be appearing before a Parliamentary Sub-committee on abortion as well as a television programme on Zimbabwe. The next edition of Firearm News must be in the post by 1 of September.

"Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong." 1 Cor. 16:13

Yours in His service
