Prayer
& Praise Update
MOZAMBIQUE, ZAMBIA, ZIMBABWE
AND NIGERIA
Give
thanks to the Lord, call on His Name; make known among the
nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him;
tell of all His wondrous acts. 1 Chronicles 16:8-9
By
God's grace, a Frontline Fellowship team has safely returned
from a mission outreach to Mozambique, reporting souls saved
during special Easter outreaches. Other teams have also
succeeded in delivering tonnes of Gospel literature, Bibles,
books and emergency relief aid to Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Just
in time for these mission outreaches, a shipment of over
eight tonnes of Gospel booklets arrived from World Missionary
Press. Over 70 000 of these Scriptural booklets have already
been delivered and distributed throughout Zambia, Zimbabwe,
Malawi and Mozambique. Others are en-route for Angola, Sudan
and Nigeria.
Peter
and Tim presented over 80 lectures, Bible studies and sermons,
including conducting a Transforming the Nations seminar
in Kabwe, a Reformation and Revival seminar and a Muslim
Evangelism Workshop in Lusaka, a Biblical Worldview Seminar
in Sinda and a Reformation Conference at Petauke. They presented
lectures at four Bible Colleges and two schools and sermons
in seven Churches. There was an enthusiastic response to
the film evangelism, with churches packed out and great
hunger for the Gospel literature and Frontline Fellowship
books distributed.
Tim
and Peter also equipped and trained evangelists throughout
Zambia and Zimbabwe with Gospel Recordings audiovisual Gospel
Messengers and Gods Story VCD kits.
Peter
and Victoria also conducted dozens of children evangelism
programmes using Evangelism Explosion. There was a tremendous
response to the Gospel outreaches in schools, hospitals
and market places.
A
new programme, which Frontline Fellowship is embarking on
in Zambia, is the sponsoring of Christian textbooks for
indigenous Christian schools.
Muslim
mosques and Madressas are being built all over Central Africa
and there is a concerted attempt to convert Zambians to
Islam. Funded by oil money from Middle Eastern governments,
Islamic propagation societies are offering free education
to impoverished, rural populations. Many Christian families
have sent their children to these Muslim schools in the
vain hope that an Islamic education is better than none.
Others have said that they would no sooner send their child
to an Islamic school than sell them into Islamic slavery.
Also
tragic is the fact that the MMD government, despite its
commitment to make Zambia a Christian country, failed during
the last 12 years to replace the socialist, humanist textbooks
of the UNIP era with any Christian textbooks. This has meant
that an officially Christian country has continued to allow
its children to be indoctrinated by school textbooks rooted
in the principles of secular humanism.
My
people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you
have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being
priests for Me; because you have forgotten the Law of your
God, I will also forget your children. Hosea 4:6
Obviously,
there can be no higher priority for a nation that wants
to become a Christian nation, than to ensure that its young
receive a truly Christian education.
Several
of the pastors in training at Frontline Fellowships
Covenant Bible College have established Christian schools
in their communities. We are seeking to provide them and
others with the quality Christian textbooks needed, to disciple
the next generation.
Please
do pray for our Director, Peter Hammond, as he is involved
in a ministry trip to Nigeria at this time. In the last
week, we have received numerous reports of political unrest
and riots in Nigeria, as well as persecution of Christians,
including the burning of dozens of Churches and the murder
of hundreds of Christians by Muslim extremists. It is to
one of those volatile and violent areas that Peter has been
invited by local Churches to conduct Muslim Evangelism Workshops
and outreaches.
Finally,
brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread
rapidly and be honoured, just as it was with you. And pray
that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men for not
everyone has faith. 2
Thessalonians 3:1-2
