"God Among the Zulu's"
By Peter Hammond
Early in January I received the special opportunity and privilege of undertaking a week of lectures to the KWA SIZABANTU Mission Station in Northern Natal. It was a wonderful opportunity to minister for hours daily to over 1 000 spiritually-eager believers from all over South Africa and even Europe. Even the Zulu Royal Family was present.
More than that, it was a great experience to learn first-hand of a genuine revival situation. For over 20 years thousands of Zulus have flocked to this mission station to put their lives right with God.
Because I know of many people who are sceptical, as I once was, of the testimonies of God’s mighty workings there at Kwa Sizabantu, I would like to give a short summary of what I found.
I was struck with the quality of the spiritual lives of the leaders and co-workers of this mission — tirelessly serving and giving of themselves with joyful hospitality. This is a quiet and refreshingly simple revival. Born in prayer, the priority of the mission is the uncompromising teaching of the Word of God and personal counselling.
As our hearts also cry out to the Lord: “send Revival to our land - and start the work in me.” I noted the following characteristics of this Move of God:
As Duncan Campbell said, “Revival and Holiness are indissolubly linked”, and “Revival is an Awareness of God.” There is a strong emphasis on preaching against sin, an overwhelming sense of conviction of sin and a deep desire to confess sin (privately) to God. Prayer plays a central role in every activity no matter how simple, and the Worship of God is the lifeblood of the mission. So these words to me sum up what God is doing in Kwa Sizabantu: Prayer, Repentance, Confession, Restitution, Obedience, Holiness and Worship.
(The title “God Among The Zulu’s”, I took from the book by Dr. Kurt Koch, which documents many cases of God’s healing, saving, delivering, purifying, protecting and providing hand. Available from Kwa Sizabantu, P.O. Box 252, Kranskop 3561).
