"Breeding Camps" in Angola

Volume 2 1988

The International Society for Human Rights (Kaiserstrasse 72. Frankfurt/Main. D-6000. West Germany) has documented eye-witness accounts of prisoners held in eight SWAPO camps in ZAMBIA and five in ANGOLA.

The ISHR report, ‘NAMIBIA - HUMAN RIGHTS IN CONFLICT’, documents that these SWAPO “refugee camps” are surrounded by barbed wire and are under military watch. Inside are between 60 000 to 80 000 "refugees” who have been enticed by offers of university training overseas or recruited into SWAPO by idealistic propaganda.

Those who have escaped testify of shocking conditions — of torture and murder of dissidents, of mass raping of young girls and women, of separating children from their mothers, of abuse and indoctrination of the young.

They report that the Marxist terror movement, SWAPO, which enjoys United Nations recognition and lavish monetary support from Western governments and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, is using these refugee camps as breeding grounds to provide manpower for their guerilla army. The women are forcibly raped and only used as human incubators for SWAPO’s manpower needs. The children are taken away from their mothers at age three and indoctrinated. Reportedly the training of the young results of these mass rapes is under the control of East German Security “Advisors”, who turn the children into Marxist-Leninist fanatics — cold, brutal killing machines.

Frontline Fellowship missionaries have personally interviewed some of those who have escaped from these SWAPO concentration camps. Our experience in Angola and in South West Africa fully confirms the accuracy of the ISHR report. Survivors have further testified to us that the SWAPO commissars confiscated and destroyed any Bibles or religious literature which the refugees/recruits may have brought with them. Religious services were forbidden and anyone caught praying was publicly humiliated, mocked and beaten. Sometimes they were forced to do obscene and blasphemous acts.

“We don’t want to kill you — that would send you to heaven with God. No. We want you to curse Christ and come to hell with us for all eternity.”
