Biblical Principles for Everyday Questions
Volume 2 1990
The media tells us that we are entering a wonderful new age of “PEACE!” and security.
“While people are saying ‘Peace and safety’, destruction will come on
them suddenly.” 1 Thess. 5:3 (Jeremiah 6:14:6:11; Matt. 24:6,7; Luke 21:9,10).
Surely the duty of Christians is to seek
TO PLEASE ALL PEOPLE?
“Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant
of Christ.” Gal. 1:10
How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?” John 5:44 (John 12:44; James 4:4; 1 John 2:15).
What should my attitude be towards corruption, COMMUNISM and other evil?
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose
them.”
Eph. 5:11
(1 Cor. 10:20,21; Matt. 7:15-1 7; Rom. 6:16,17).
Should Western governments provide AID AND TRADE to communist nations?
“Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, the wrath of the Lord is upon
you.” 2 Chron. 19:2
(2 Kings 20:12-17; 2 Chron. 16:3-9; Psalm 118:8-11; Isaiah 5:20-24; 28:15).
Can a Christian support ABORTION? When does life begin — at birth, or at conception?”
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because lam fear fully and wonderfully made; . . . your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came
to be.” Psalm 139:13-16
(Exodus 21:21-24; Isaiah 44:24; Jer. 1:5; Luke 1:41-44).
Does God’s law require capital punishment for MURDERERS?
“Anyone who strikes a man and kills him shall surely be put to death. If a man schemes and kills another man deliberately, take him away from my altar and put him to death. Anyone who kidnaps ... must be put to
death.”. Exodus 21:12,14,16
(Gen. 9:6; Lev. 24:17; Acts 25:10-12; Romans 13:4).
Is HOMOSEXUALITY an acceptable “al ternative lifestyle”?
“Don’t you know that the wicked will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived, neither the sexually immoral, nor idolators, nor adulter ers, nor male prostitutes, nor homo sexual offenders, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor slander ers, nor swindlers will inherit the Kindgom of God.” 1 Cor6:9,10 (Gen. 19:4,5,24; Lev. 20:13; Rom. 1:24- 32).
Does the Bible say anything about the origin of AIDS and other venereal diseases?
“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural rela tions with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men com mitted indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.” Romans 1:26,27
Should Christians support publications control laws to protect society from PORNOGRAPHY?
“But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person — such a man is an idolator — has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them.” Eph. 5:3-7
(Ezekiel 23:14-20; Matthew 5:27-30; Gal. 5:19-21; 1 Thess. 5:22,23).
What should be our Christian response to all the “new interpretations” and “OTHER GOSPELS” preached by liberals and liberation theologians?
“Stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the Gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.” Phil. 1:27,28
“Contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.”
Jude 3
(Matt. 7:15-25; 24:10-13; Acts 20: 27- 30; Gal. 1:6-9).
Is BIBLICAL LAW still relevant for social, economic, judicial and moral issues?
“It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.”
(Isaiah 8:20; John 10:35).
Luke 16:17
Did the coming of Christ abolish the Law of God revealed in the OLD TESTAMENT?
“Do not think that I have come to
abolish the Law or the Prophets; I
have not come to abolish them but to
fulfil them.” Matt. 5:17
(2 Tim. 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20,21)
TO WHAT STANDARD should we go to evaluate everyday issues, and determine our daily decisions?
“To the Law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this Word, it is because there is no light in
them.” Isaiah 8:20
“Jesus answered, ‘It is written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the
mouth of God.” Matt. 4:4
“Be careful to obey all the Law. . . do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Joshua 1:7,8
