IMAM SUPPORTS CRUCIFIXION
Volume 2 1996
On Thursday, 11 January 1996, an Imam of the Islamic Propagation Centre International (IPCI), in Durban, defended polygamy, jihad and the crucifixion of Muslims who convert to Christianity. This was during a presentation to an international group participating in Frontline Fellowship’s Discipleship Training Course.
The Director of Frontline Fellowship mentioned that he had recently returned from Sudan where hundreds of Christians in the Nuba Mountains had been crucified by the Islamic government there. The Imam responded that the Quran prescribed the death penalty for apostacy. Therefore, he claimed that any Muslim who left the Islamic religion deserved to be crucified.
At other points in his presentation, the Imam defended polygamy (the practise of having several wives) and Jihad (holy war). The visiting group expressed shock at this blatant disregard for human rights, women’s rights and freedom of religion.
